Sister Wives premiered back in September 2010, and gave the world a glimpse into the world of Kody Brown and his four sister wives, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown. Now, while the show was meant to show the realities of polygamy and living in a plural family, it became somewhat of a competition right from the start. The show opened with Kody introducing his youngest wife, Robyn, to the rest of the clan.
As the series progressed, it became clear that Robyn developed a sense of jealousy towards Christine. While this did lead to a few arguments now and then, the negative feelings between the two became the underlying theme of the show. Christine initially held a prominent position in the family, and it was evident that as the newcomer, Robyn was threatened by it. So, she did all she could to undermine her and essentially become the only wife Kody could ever depend on.
Christine Was the Nucleus of the Family on ‘Sister Wives’
Things are always messy in a plural family. Before Robyn came along, things weren’t perfect among all of Kody’s wives. However, despite their arguments, all of them were still working together to keep their family intact. The wives never let their differences get in the way of their children’s relationships with Kody, and never let things go unaddressed for the sake of everyone involved. And it won’t be wrong to say that Christine was the one holding the family together. All of the kids in the family were close to Christine.
The first few episodes of the show made it clear that Christine was the fun one, the primary caregiver, someone that everyone in the family could rely on. Not to mention that she was the one who had any kind of control over finances in the family after Kody. Now, while Robyn never seemed to want any of these responsibilities, she wanted to enjoy all the privileges that come with them.

Kody Brown’s behavior has always been self-serving.
Since the Kody’s older kids refused to accept Robyn as the step mom that she wanted to so desperately become, it became all the more difficult for her to make her place in the family. On the other hand, Christine always had a natural ability to connect with all the kids, manage the household, and provide emotional support to her ex-husband, and that never sat well with Robyn, who seemed to be on an agenda to become the favorite wife.
Robyn Never Practiced What She Preached
Not to mention that she hired help to take care of her kids while she was away, instead of letting them stay with Christine like the rest of the sister wives did. This made it all the more evident that Robyn wanted to keep her kids far away from Christine out of nothing but pure insecurity. Maybe Robyn felt like she would lose her kids to Christine if they spent time with her.
Before things inevitably fell apart and The plural Brown family eventually broke up, Robyn kept claiming that she was the one trying to keep everyone together. However, her decisions were actively trying to sabotage Kody’s relationships with anyone but herself and her kids. At the same time, she would obsessively find reasons to turn Kody against Christine and convince him to leave her. While Kody and Robyn always tried to imply that Christine never made an effort to accept Robyn into the family, they seem to forget that Christine was the one who threw Robyn an elaborate baby shower despite their rocky relationship.
Robyn Was Never Considerate of Christine’s Feelings
Considering Christine’s position, she was Kody’s youngest sister wife before Robyn came into the picture. Christine has admitted time and again that she worked hard to be the perfect wife and do whatever Kody had asked of her. However, when she saw Robyn doing the bare minimum and still earning all of Kody’s favor, she was hurt, and understandably so. Not to mention that she was pregnant with Truley Brown at the time, and neither Robyn, nor Kody considered how neglected she felt as she worked late shifts and took care of her kids all by herself.
Robyn painted herself as the feeble one who no one liked and used that to take away Kody’s attention. Over time, she systematically knocked the other wives down, with Christine being her prime target. The most unfortunate part is that Christine had no idea that while she was handling all the logistics of the plural family, Robyn was strategically positioning herself as the one who received all of Kody’s attention and love. As Kody’s feelings for Christine dwindled, Robyn was quick to exploit that opportunity and fuel the rift between them. This dynamic wasn’t only about jealousy. It was about Robyn’s need to earn Kody’s favor, even if it was at the expense of the other sister wives.
