In April 2025, Netflix released a new series called The Glass Dome, and those who enjoyed the Swedish thriller should check out these similar shows afterward. The Glass Dome follows Lejla, a criminologist who takes on the case of Alicia, a young girl who has vanished out of a small town. Notably, this is the same town that, years prior, Lejla was held captive in. With the help of the former police chief, Lejla works hard to find Alicia and figure out how their cases may be connected.

With an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, The Glass Dome is a thrilling and mysterious series that easily steeps viewers in its dark world of crime and trauma. Though predictable at times, the show truly shines when it’s focused on its main character, Lejla, whose good intentions are clouded by her bad experiences. Fortunately, those who enjoyed the series will not be hard-pressed to find something similar on Netflix or other streaming services. The following five series are some of the best and most similar crime dramas to The Glass Dome.

5

The Fall

A Detective & A Serial Killer Play Cat & Mouse

A slightly older series that would pique the interest of The Glass Dome fans would be The Fall. First released in 2013, this three-season series follows a detective who is dedicated to tracking down a vicious serial killer in Northern Ireland. Despite having vastly different motives, the show explores how both the detective and serial killer are put into difficult situations, and how they are able to evade each other for better and for worse. The Fall is currently free to stream on Tubi and Prime Video.

The Fall is a captivating thriller with a star-studded cast and great reviews. Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan work around each other in compelling ways, diving deep into their respective characters. On Rotten Tomatoes, The Fall has matching 85% critics and audience scores. More than anything, though, The Fall is another opportunity for audiences to see the intimate cat and mouse chase of a skilled detective and an intelligent criminal.

The Sinner

An Unorthodox Detective Solves Violent Crimes

If you enjoyed the character study elements of The Glass Dome, then The Sinner would be a perfect follow-up. This 2017 series centers on Harry Ambrose, a detective who uses unusual methods to track down a new killer every season. Though the chilling crimes at the heart of each installment are intriguing, it is Harry himself that keeps the show together. His talent as a detective and the close bonds he forms with his suspects create some truly gripping storytelling. The Sinner has four seasons in total.

10 Moody Mystery Shows That Give You A Sense Of Dread

It’s important for every mystery series to create a compelling atmosphere, and these TV shows create an undeniable air of apprehension.

Like The Glass Dome, The Sinner is the type of crime show that isn’t just invested in crimes themselves, but how they affect others. Ambrose is very similar to Lejla in that he doesn’t always follow traditional routes, and he is often led by his emotions rather than strict logic. This makes The Sinner far more interesting, as viewers are never quite sure what will happen next. Plus, the series is currently streaming on Netflix, just like The Glass Dome.

3

The Breakthrough

A Detective Attempts To Solve A 16-Year-Old Cold Case

Crime dramas come in all shapes and sizes, but if Swedish series are up your alley, then The Breakthrough would be an excellent choice. Released earlier in 2025, it follows a detective who teams up with a genealogist to solve a double homicide that occurred 16 years prior. With the case at risk of going completely cold, the pair must race against the clock to find their killer before he gets away with everything. The Breakthrough is also streaming on Netflix.

The most obvious connections between The Glass Dome and The Breakthrough are their premises and their countries of origin. Because The Breakthrough is also Swedish, it may feel more similar to The Glass Dome, particularly in terms of the writing and acting. On top of that, both series revolve around the idea of crime and history. Just as Lejla must confront her past traumas, the protagonists of The Breakthrough must work through time to find their present suspect.

2

Mare Of Easttown

A Troubled Small Town Detective Investigates A Murder

As a result of its genre, The Glass Dome feels similar to countless other crime dramas, yet there are certain TV series whose details align perfectly with the Swedish thriller. One of these is Mare of Easttown. In this 2021 drama, a police investigator named Mare investigates a brutal murder that has taken place in her small Pennsylvania town. At the same time, she must ensure that her own life and wellbeing doesn’t fall apart. Mare of Easttown is streaming on Max.

HBO’s Mare of Easttown has ended, revealing the identity of Erin’s killer and offering a sense of resolution. Here’s what it all means.

In terms of quality, Mare of Easttown is high up on the list. This series has a stunning 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and features incredible stars like Kate Winslet, Jean Smart, Evan Peters, Julianne Nicholson, and Cailee Spaeny. It has close ties to The Glass Dome because it centers on a detective main character who is not only focused on a particular case, but is also struggling with her own related traumas. This leads audiences down a dark rabbit hole of memory, mental health, and murder.

1

Sharp Objects

A Woman Returns Home To Learn More About A String Of Unsolved Crimes

Finally, the best show one can watch after The Glass Dome would have to be Sharp Objects. Another HBO series, Sharp Objects is about Camille, a journalist who begrudgingly returns to her small Southern hometown after a string of unsolved murders have left citizens concerned. As Camille is attempting to learn more about these violent crimes, she must also contend with her mentally troubled mother and her rebellious younger sister. She is also haunted by her own teenage years in this Missouri town.

Amy Adams is stunning as Camille and definitely fits into the same category as The Glass Dome’s Lejla: troubled yet determined investigator

Sharp Objects is an incredible thriller that will leave you guessing until the very end. Based on the Gillian Flynn novel of the same name, this mini series tackles countless different themes, from generational trauma to adolescence to family values. Amy Adams is stunning as Camille and definitely fits into the same category as The Glass Dome’s Lejla: troubled yet determined investigator. All in all, Sharp Objects follows many of the same paths as The Glass Dome, but goes even further in terms of shock value.
