The series finale of The Righteous Gemstones finally includes Keefe’s parents and debunks a theory about his upbringing during Kelvin and Keefe’s wedding ceremony. The final episode of The Righteous Gemstones ended on a high note with the Gemstone siblings Jesse, Kelvin, and Judi all narrowly escaping the merciless betrayal of Seann William Scott’s Corey Milsap, who shoots them all in the series finale. Corey had just saved Eli Gemstone and Baby Billy in The Righteous Gemstones season 4, episode 8 by killing his father, Cobb, who turned out to be a serial killer.
After introducing one of the darkest twists in the history of The Righteous Gemstones, Corey doubles down and breaks bad himself before Jesse fires a fatal shot that kills him, thanks to the speedy help of BJ’s helpful monkey, Dr. Watson. Because Jesse, Kelvin, and Judi all live, Kelvin is able to marry Keefe after finally proposing to him earlier in the finale episode. The series ends with the Gemstones finally at peace and Elijah Gemstone’s golden Bible being returned to the Gemstone family. In the end, Eli goes back to live on his boat somewhere in Florida and reunites once again with Lori Milsap.

Not much has been revealed about Keefe’s backstory and upbringing throughout his four seasons on The Righteous Gemstones. It was established in The Righteous Gemstones season 1 that before he became Kelvin’s right-hand man, he had been a satanist. He credits Kelvin for saving him and showing him the way of God and Christianity. There’s long been a theory that Keefe came from a preacher’s family, which is what inspired his life as a satanist before Kelvin came along. However, when Keefe’s parents are shown in the finale, there’s no indication that they are preachers.

It Could Have Revealed More About His Relationship With His Parents & Family
It would have been interesting to dive more into Keefe’s backstory at some point in The Righteous Gemstones. Apart from being a former satanist who used to live a hedonistic lifestyle of partying and doing drugs, there’s very little established about his time before meeting Kelvin. An “interlude” type of episode, like the ones previously shown that are often among the most celebrated episodes of The Righteous Gemstones, could have centered entirely around Keefe. The Interludes have always gone back in time to when Jesse, Kelvin, and Judi were kids and Aimee Leigh was still alive.

Cobb Milsap is the main villain of The Righteous Gemstones season 4, with him being far more dangerous than any of the show’s previous antagonists.
This type of Interlude episode could have taken a look at several supporting characters, such as BJ and Tiffany, before their time with the Gemstones. Since Kelvin and Keefe’s relationship empowered them to both come out as gay, it would have been worth taking a look into Keefe’s struggle during his teenage and college years with religion, sexuality, family, etc. It’s not explicitly clear how Keefe’s parents feel about him marrying Kelvin in The Righteous Gemstones series finale, which leaves a lingering question mark over their dynamic now that the series has officially come to an end.
