Many characters have been cautiously approaching Dr. Lenox (Sarah Ramos) since she arrived at the ER at the beginning of Chicago Med Season 10. She is a tough personality who doesn’t care whose feelings are hurt if it means improving service delivery. She’s used to people tiptoeing around her, so when Dr. Hayes (Brendan Hines) challenged her during this year’s One Chicago crossover, Lennox was pleasantly surprised. One would have figured that either Dr. Hayes was very courageous or there was something odd about him. A sneak peek of Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 21, “Baby Mine…” hints at the latter when an allegation against Hayes is lodged. Meanwhile, Maggie (Marlyne Barret) and Frost (Darren Barnet) fight to get a pair of lungs for a young cystic fibrosis patient, Hannah (Jessy Schram) learns whether she can become a surrogate, and Ripley (Luke Mitchell) and Morris (Lee Jones) treat the daughter of a tech billionaire battling leukemia.
Workplace friction is common in the ED, but no one has gone up against Dr. Lenox yet. However, everyone is forced to pick a side when a serious allegation is made. The cockiness Dr. Hayes displayed since he arrived at the hospital finally exposes its negative side. It’s unclear what the allegation is, but it seems serious if Lenox decides to go against someone she was thought to be romantically into. The situation is made worse by the fact that Hayes doesn’t care. “I can have any woman I want,” he tells Lenox. Is that him threatening Cailtin with a good time? Relationships are overrated anyway. “I will light myself on fire, just to watch you burn with me,” Lenox responds. She rarely says something she doesn’t mean. Oh, Dr. Hayes, what did you do?
‘Chicago Med’ Prepares to Wrap Up for the Season
“Baby Mine…” is the penultimate episode of the season and might set up events for the season finale, “…Don’t You Cry.” Both episodes seem related. The season finale, airing on May 20, might be setting up some departures as the ED struggles to stay afloat financially. “Following orders, Goodwin is tasked with enforcing difficult cuts to hospital personnel. Charles’ daughter is hospitalized after a car accident. A transplant patient makes a life-changing decision,” the logline for Episode 22 reads. Speaking to TV Line, showrunner Allen MacDonald teased an epic finale, saying:
“The final minutes of the hour will have some big shocks with lasting ripple effects. It’s going to be a very long summer for Chicago Med fans! Circumstance forces Dr. Charles to face a dark legacy in his family; Goodwin confronts her demons as she makes some deeply difficult decisions, both personal and professional; and there will also be some unexpected faces returning,”
Tune in to Chicago Med on NBC for the next two weeks to watch the final episodes of Season 10. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
