About yesterday’s podcast with Kate Casey and then what’s coming up next week. Also, a little bit of talk about the Vegas party.
We are literally two weeks and one day away. We can also talk about the tragic story in regards to Serene Russell from The Bachelor, her mother. What she’s going through, and then maybe talk a little more survivor on Shahin’s exit because Shaheen made a pretty interesting case for himself if he would’ve gotten down to the final three.
We will talk all about all that momentarily. So yesterday, podcast 4 43 had Kate Casey on Hope. You all got a chance to listen to that or watch it. It was some interesting stuff in regards to the documentaries, and I’ve told you. Coming up on Tuesday on Netflix, the fall of Fav is going to be released. I got to watch it on Wednesday and we’ll be interviewing my friend Jen Sturger, who was a good part of that documentary that’s coming out.
And we’ll talk to Jen about a lot of things regarding that. And I think people need to understand like, this isn’t new. Jen’s talked about this story a lot. But I think it’s good that she’s finally getting national recognition for this and, ’cause she’s talked about it on this podcast. She’s talked about it on other podcast.
She’s gone on, she’s talked about it on her Instagram stories, and yet there are still people to this day, my guess is mostly Packer fans. Brett Farr fans, Brett Favre stands, who just think he walks on water and can’t do anything wrong. But there’s no denying what happened here. And I think one thing that people gotta understand, and we’ll get into it with Jen next week, and it, it’s something I brought up with her the last time, or one of the two times she was on my podcast when we talked about it, because this story literally changed her life.
And I know a lot of people are like, well, supposed to feel sorry for a girl. ’cause you know, Brett Fav was hitting on her. It goes a lot deeper than that because this is not something that was found out in the moment. Because I think a lot of people think, oh, she just did this for attention. Number one, she didn’t release anything.
She was betrayed by a friend who leaked it to Deadspin of all places. She did not participate in this when she was working for the Jets and the whole Brett Favre incident came down where he left her texts, voice messages, and a dick pic. That was in 2008. This story, all you gotta do is Google. It didn’t hit Deadspin until 2010, so it’s not like she even, she was keeping her mouth shut.
She was never saying anything. It’s just a really sad tale because she was part of the Me Too movement before the Me Too movement, because I guarantee you, if this happened to her now, she would absolutely. Not necessarily benefited from it, but she wouldn’t be the victim. Well, lemme take that back. She’s clearly the victim in this case.
She wouldn’t be shit on by the public like she was back in 2010 because everybody came after her. You want to Google something pretty sad Google. Jen Sturger, A BC News, George Stephanopoulos when he sat down and she did her first interview about this story, after the shit hit the fan, go listen to that interview and listen to how George Stephanopoulos treated her and the questions that he asked her.
She was guilty until proven innocent. I, I cannot believe that interview to this day. So we got a lot to talk about with Jen, but the documentary is good. It really is good. Unless you’re a Packer fan or a Brett F fan, you are gonna make every excuse in the book and say you hate it, and say, why are people still talking about this?
Well, I mean, that’s, that’s a, it’s kind of a ridiculous thing to say. ’cause then you’re saying, why are people doing documentaries about stuff? I mean, there are people that do documentaries about stuff that happened 40 years ago. We’re not allowed to talk about things that are in the past that are relevant.
So of course, you’re not only, you’re not only gonna do documentaries on stuff that’s happening now. There’s plenty of things that people do documentaries on that are excellent, that have nothing to do with what’s currently happening. Oh, this story that happened 15, 20 years ago or whatever. It’s still good if it’s done well.
So yeah, very good documentary. It’s called The Fall of Fav, and it comes out on Tuesday on Netflix. All right. A little bit about the Vegas party coming up two weeks from tomorrow. It’s crazy to think that it’s almost here. I just, I feel like I’ve been talking about this for the last six months and I pretty much have, but it’s it’s, it’s almost here and I’m excited.
I can’t wait. Talked about this. This is the biggest one I’ve ever thrown. This started in 2015 in my hotel room at Mandalay Bay. I think that first year we had like 35 people that came to this, and that year it was my 40th birthday in 2015. And I was just like, you know what? I’ve never been a birthday guy.
I’ve never cared what I did for my birthday, but it was my 40th. So I’m like, let’s do something. And I was like, I’ll invite you. Anybody that’s interested in coming, the listeners can come out to Vegas. It’s free. I’m just gonna have a party in my room. We’re gonna have open beer and wine bar and food. And then it became an annual thing outside of 2020 and 2021 because of Covid.
And it became an annual thing. We’ve done it for eight years now. The first seven were in my room at Mandalay. And personally for me, it just got too hot in there. Anybody that remembers two years ago, Amanda Lay, I literally had a towel around my shoulder the whole time. ’cause I was just sweating. The whole night, it just got too hot in the room with almost a hundred, and then by 2023, there were a hundred people that were coming to the party and it was just too much to put in the room.
Last year we had it at the Venetian, at the Grand Lux Cafe. That was a really good time, but it was just like it was in the room. It was just, Hey, everyone come out, open beer and wine bar food. You know, let me put you on the guest list. It can only have X amount of people there. And we’re just gonna mingle and then have a raffle and give away tickets for stuff and give away prizes.
Well, this year we’re going big. I, my 50th birthday is the night of my party, May 31st, and I decided you only turn 50 once. So let’s do it up. We are gonna have a show that Dave Neil is going to Mc. We have our own room called the B Side Room. At Mandalay Bay, the House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay. It is invitation O, not invitation only, but you have to have already contacted me and your name be on the list for you to come to this thing.
So don’t, I don’t know if anybody who’s thinking, anybody that’s listening right now was thinking of just showing up. No, you have to let me know that you’re coming. Let me know the names of the people that are coming, but I’m pretty much sold out. There are a couple people that are on the fence that I might have one or two spots open up.
But as of right now, I’m pretty much sold out and I have been for a few months now. We are going a lot bigger this year in terms of what is going to happen because as I said, it’s gonna be a live show. There’s going to be a DJ playing a playlist of eighties music, open beer and wine bar again. There will be food there as well.
But it’s also eighties themed, so people are coming und dressed up costume. It could be an eighties garb, it could be a character from a movie, a character from a TV show, whatever you wanna do. But it’s an eighties themed party, so it’s not like I’m not gonna let people in if they don’t show up in a costume.
But it’s recommended because there will be a lot of people there. In fact, I would think most people are gonna be wearing a costume. I’ve already had a lot of you email me, say You’ve already got your costume and you’re ready to go. So that’ll be fun. And for me, for anybody listening that is coming, doors will open between 6 45 and seven o’clock.
But as I told you, there’s a Kendrick Lamar concert happening across the street at Allegiant Stadium. If you are not within walking distance of Mandalay Bay, I would say don’t plan. Wherever you’re coming from, don’t say like, okay, I’ll plan to be there at 6 45, because I don’t think you’ll make it there anywhere close to 6 45, just because there’s gonna be so much congestion around that hotel that night.
It’s just bad timing that Kendrick Lamar decided to have a concert that night, so I would just honestly plan on being there at six. Be at that hotel at six, and if you have to walk around the casino floor, go shopping, whatever you need to do. Doors will open at 6 45. I would like to start the show no later than seven 30 where we’re going to do a raffle.
Dave Neil is going to do the roast of reality. Steve, we are going to take questions. We’re gonna have a q and a with a wireless mic, so it’ll be a lot of fun. But I, I, I wanna start that no later than seven 30. Maybe that goes for 30 or 45 minutes. And then at eight 30 back to eighties music for the rest of the night.
Basically, it’s from, gonna go from seven to 11, but you can. You know, leave whenever you want. But I think it’ll be a, a good time all around. I’m excited about this, but yeah, this is the biggest party. It’s twice as many people than we’ve ever had at a party. I’ve never had it in a venue like this.
I’ve never had it that a, a venue has a stage, you know, it’s got a, a little mini stage there. It’s gonna be decorated in all eighties stuff. So, I am, I’m. Absolutely looking forward to this. Everybody that has come out and is, or everybody that has emailed me and is on the email list and is coming to the party.
I think one of the craziest things about it, as I was going over the guest list last night, people from 26 different states. Are coming to this party. I’d say only around the 200 people are coming. I’d say only about 25 or 30 are Vegas locals. And then between the under other 170 people, 26 different states are being represented, which I think is so cool.
I mean, we have got people from all over. As I just look down the list, I mean, we’ve got Canada, Colorado, Wisconsin. Washington, Washington, DC obviously, California, Pennsylvania, Oregon Nebraska, Michigan, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, Maine. We got someone coming from Portland, Maine. Are you kidding me?
That’s gotta be like the longest flight, doesn’t it? Portland, Maine to Vegas. Those people are easily traveling. The farthest, Virginia, Texas, not including myself, Boston, St. Louis, you know, Massachusetts, Missouri, Minnesota, Indiana, New York, Connecticut, all over. It’s absolutely crazy. Illinois. I think that covers everything.
I don’t know how many I mentioned there, but I could have sworn I counted and it was around 26. Anyway, just wanted to tell everybody that, and if you’re coming, can’t wait to see you.
