The Marlow Murder Club is coming back to PBS Masterpiece. The sophomore season of the murder-mystery show will hit PBS Masterpiece later this year. The Marlow Murder Club, along with Season 6 of Unforgotten will premiere on August 24. The Marlow Murder Club will premiere at 9 PM ET, with Unforgotten following. The Marlow Murder Club stars Samantha Bond (Downton Abbey) as Judith Potts, Jo Martin (Doctor Who) as Suzie Harris, Cara Horgan (The Sandman) as Becks Starling, and Natalie Dew (Sandylands) as DS Tanika Malik. The series is based on the Robert Thorogood novel of the same name. The series as a whole consists of The Marlow Murder Club, Death Comes to Marlow, and The Queen of Poisons.
According to PBS, there will be six episodes for the sophomore season of the cozy murder mystery show as retired archaeologist Judith Potts and her friends are pulled back in to solve new crimes after the string of murders that all began with a murder near the Thames. Bond teased to PBS about the upcomign season, saying:
“Well, Season 1 is one story, and Season 2 is three stories. You’ve got a posh murder that happens at Sir Peter Bailey’s house, which is an incredible journey of how the women, primarily Judith, solve that. And then there’s a mystery set in a more modest bit of Marlow where one murder happens right at the beginning and then another body is discovered, and might there—or might not there—be a link? And the third one is at the sailing club. The wonderful thing about The Marlow Murder Club is that the whole thing is on location in Marlow. So when you go to the rowing club, it’s in Marlow; when you go to the sailing club, it’s in Marlow.”
What Else Is Coming to PBS Masterpiece This Year?
One of the most highly anticipated series coming to PBS Masterpiece is Miss Austen on May 4. The series will follow Keeley Hawes in a dual-timeline four-episode series that shows what led Cassandra Austen, sister to famed Regency-Era author Jane Austen, to burn or redact nearly all of Jane’s letters. Cassandra was known infamously for the fact, and now fans will see Cassandra return home in order to secure the letters she feel she must alter or burn in order to protect her sister. Allegedly, there were more than 3,000 letters total and only 160 of which survived. The ones that did were allegedly redacted for propriety should younger relatives of Jane and Cassandra ever read them. The series also stars Synnøve Karlsen as a young Cassndra Austen and Patsy Ferran as Jane Austen. Others in the cast include: Alfred Enoch (How to Get Away with Murder), Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), Calam Lynch (Bridgerton), Max Irons (The Wife), and Phyllis Logan (Downton Abbey).
The Marlow Murder Club will stream via the PBS app, PBS.org, as well as PBS MASTERPIECE on Prime Video. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
